UFC 220 took place this past Saturday night and after an intriguing night of fights, Daniel Cormier and Abdul Razak Alhassan were among the recipients of bonus money.
Daniel Cormier (20-1) defended his light-heavyweight title in some style against Volkan Oezdemir (15-2) and for his reward, the champion pocketed $50,000 for a “Performance of the Night” bonus.
Also receiving a POTN award was Abdul Razak Alhassan (9-1) who landed a clean one punch knock-out of Sabah Hamasi (11-8) in their rematch of last December’s controversial stoppage. Alhassan made sure there was no controversy this time and picks up a cool $50K for his efforts.
The UFC handed out $50,000 a-piece to Calvin Kattar (18-2) and Shane Burgos (10-1) for their involvement in the event’s Fight of the Night honours.
In a tense back and forth battle, Calvin Kattar put together a vicious combination starting with a vicious lead uppercut to send Burgos to the mat where he ended the fight in the third round to claim victory over the much hyped Burgos.
Notably, Stipe Miocic (18-2) who defended the belt for the third time against Francis Ngannou (11-2) did not receive disclosed bonuses for their heavyweight title bout.
Fighter pay has yet to be disclosed but the UFC’s gate receipts were tabulated and the promotion announced on Saturday night that the attendance in TD Garden was 16,015 which resulted in a $2.45 million gate.
