BRAVE CF 13 takes place tonight from the SSE Odyssey Arena in Belfast and you can keep up to date with all the action as it happens via The Writing Irish social media platforms.
In a late notice cancellation, the fight between Jonathan Reid vs. Constantin Gnusarev was cancelled due to an illness for Reid. At the time of writing, it is unsure what the nature of this illness is and we hope that he makes a speedy recovery.
In the night’s first bout of the night, Welshman Aidan James had a very good showing in his victory over Tommy Martin.
Martin’s counter punching was a real factor in the early rounds and was able to secure two big takedowns in rounds two and three respectively.
In a very patient showing, James waited for his opportunities to land strikes and finished the fight with some vicious ground and pound.
In a late replacement for Adam Byrne, Sebastian Zozok stepped in to fight Ben Bennett and ended up on the receiving end of a brutal injury. Having been taken down at the end of the first round, Bennett landed a barrage of crunching punches to the body of Zozok who was forced to retire at the end of round one with a suspected broken rib.
The first big pop of the night came for Northern Ireland’s Glenn Irvine. he took on Konrad Iwanowski in the middleweight division. After an early onslaught from Irvine, he looked to land bombs to end the fight early but it was Iwanowski who managed a big takedown and worked in a rear naked choke to silence the home crowd at the SSE Arena.
In an explosive bout, Cian Cowley came back from early adversity against Belfast’s own Daniel Olejniczak to earn a hard earned TKO finish. In a back and forth war, Cowley got rocked early on and looked to be nearly out but a resurgent Cowley managed to rock Olejniczak with a knee and ended the fight with a TKO victory.
Hometown favourite Declan Dalton was met with rapturous ovations as he made his way to the cage to fight Zack Zane. In a fantastic transitional chess match, both fighters looked to sink in rear naked chokes but in a game of margins, Zane managed to step over Dalton and take his back to sink in the finishing choke to silence a once deafening home crowd.
In the co-main event, Norman Parke sent Northern Ireland fans home happy as he earned an impressive decision victory over Myles Price in a rematch 8 years in the making. Parke outwrestled Price for the majority of the fight and earned an important victory under the Brave CF banner.
In the evening’s main event, Francis Mlambo came up short against bantamweight champion Stephen Loman. In the early goings, Mlambo looked to have Loman rocked but the champion exerted his dominance with some dominant wrestling and Mlambo could not do anything to extinguish the relentless pressure he was put under.
