Curtis Blaydes is currently on a four fight win streak and believes he is next in line for a title shot.
The heavyweight contender was speaking with Ariel Helwani on ESPN’s MMA Show this Monday and admits he’s feeling frustrated with his position in the heavyweight division.
“I’ve been vocal this last while”, Blaydes opened up. “I know how this game works now. I believe the squeakiest wheel gets the most attention and I’m being extra squeaky”
Blaydes had called out former champion Stipe Miocic last week via social media.
Miocic has yet to respond to Blaydes’ call out and the UFC have not made comment on the proposed match up.
“I’m not sure if Miocic takes the fight” said Blaydes. “I hope so. I think the UFC would be interested. It’s the only fight that makes sense for me”
Stipe Miocic recently lost his title to Daniel Cormier and Blaydes did not hold back when discussing the Brock Lesnar situation.
“I was there beside Dana White. I saw Brock. I knew he was going to do some sort of crazy call out which he did and I just felt so helpless. I feel like I’m in limbo right now. Maybe it’s bad timing.”
Blaydes continued his tirade.
“Brock is coming in having been popped for PED’s. If you’re DC and you’re the champion, you gotta fight the best. This is pure money fight but the big fights are the real fights.”
Blaydes is still adamant that Stipe Miocic is his next opponent but did also mention Derrick Lewis as a future opponent.
“It’s 50/50 if I get that Stipe fight but if Derrick is booked up, that’s gonna force me and Miocic to fight next”
