Demetrious Johnson says he doesn’t feel demoralised after loss to Henry Cejudo

Demetrious Johnson had defended his belt 10 times successfully before being dispatched by Henry Cejudo at UFC 227.

Speaking on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show on Monday, the former champion Demetrious Johnson appeared in positive form when discussing his recent loss to Henry Cejudo.

“I’m not demoralised”, said Johnson. “Henry (Cejudo) beat me fair and square. I can’t be mad. You can’t beat everybody in the division and then get mad when someone beats you.”

In a close contest, Henry Cejudo was able to beat Demetrious Johnson via split decision in a very close contest.

Helwani had asked Johnson if he had watched the fight back.

“Yeah, I’ve watched it”, replied Johnson. “I should have done more man. My coaches all said to me, “he’s the world champion now by just fucking laying on you” but for me I should have done more. I don’t know what the judges are looking for sometimes but I’m sure I should have done more.”

“Mighty Mouse” confirmed that he has a tear in his LCL.

“I don’t know if I need surgery but even 9 days removed from the fight, I still wake up sweating with the pain. I have a tear in my LCL but I don’t know if I need surgery yet”

When questioned as to whether or not he would like to fight again this year, Johnson was open to the idea but was not entirely sure if it would be possible.

“I’d like to fight again for sure but you just never know what the story is with these injuries. I just want to get healthy and go from there”.
