Sean O’Malley reveals that he is fighting Jose Quinonez at UFC 229

The ever popular Sean O’Malley broke the news on Ariel Helwani’s MMA show on Monday.

After negotiating a new contract yesterday in Vegas, the UFC also gave Sean O’Malley (10-0) a bonus of a main card fight against Jose Quinonez (7-2)

The fight is set to open up the main card of UFC 229, a card featuring a lightweight title tilt between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov (c).

O’Malley has been a popular figure in the UFC since he appeared on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series.

Following on from the show, O’Malley is on a two fight win streak but faces a very tricky opponent in Quinonez who is on a four fight win streak.

The Mexican is a durable fighter and is heavy handed which is something that O’Malley will need to avoid.

It’s a fascinating fight between two very solid bantamweight fighters early in their UFC careers.
