With plenty of Irish fighters in action this weekend, Brian Moore lost out to Noad Lahat via unanimous decision at Bellator 210 on Friday night.
It was a blistering start to the contest as Wexford native, Brian Moore began well against Lahat and engaged him early with several combinations and looked to be having it all his own way in round one.
Lahat – who incidentally missed weight – was able to clip the irishman but it was Moore who had the upper hand on the feet and in the final stages of the opening stanza, Moore landed a solid right hand that dropped his opponent to the canvas and landed some heavy ground and pound. Had the fight been 10 seconds longer, it is likely that referee Mike Beltran would have stepped in and ended the contest.
As it happens, we saw a second round and once again, The Pikeman” landed flush on Lahat who quickly recovered before Moore could land any meaningful punishment and Lahat was able to regain his composure and took Moore down twice.
On the second occasion, Lahat was able to find himself in full mount and returned fire with some ground and pound of his own. Moore was able to defend the blows well and it would be all to play for going into the third and final round.
In the final round, Lahat pushed forward instantaneously and secured an early takedown and on the mat is where the fight would stay for the duration of the round.
Despite his best efforts, Moore was unable to return to his feet and reset the action and once the final bell sounded, it was quite clear as to who the victor would be.
Moore dropped the fight via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-27, 29-27) and now moves to 11-7 overall and 2-3 since joining Bellator.
