Having surprisingly been cut from the UFC roster, Sage Northcutt now finds himself a new home with Asian promotion, ONE Championship.
With a stable housing many top level fighters and recently acquiring former UFC flyweight and UFC lightweight champions Demetrious Johnson and Eddie Alvarez respectively, ONE Championship have secured another high level signing.
Having fought in the UFC for a total of 8 times, “Super” Sage Northcutt (11-2) found himself off the roster despite a three fight win streak and really showing his potential in the welterweight division.
Northcutt has been a polarising figure for both fighters and fans alike with many believing that the young man was being an unfair push having initially been signed on Dana White’s ‘Lookin’ For A Fight’ series.
There is no denying that Northcutt has improved significantly and the news of his departure from the UFC was met with confusion.
On Friday night, ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong broke the news via Twitter that Northcutt is officially signed up with the promotion.
There is no news yet as to when he is likely to fight but one thing is for certain is that ONE Championship are an organisation to watch out for in 2019.
