Usman broke the news on his Twitter account overnight but was quickly shot down by current welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley.
UFC 235 is set to take place on March 2nd from Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena but is currently without a main event. Although, according to Kamaru Usman, he proclaims that a fight with the current champion Tyron Woodley is a “done deal” for the upcoming PPV.
Usman is currently riding a 13 fight winning streak and in his last two fights has knocked off some of the division’s elite in Demian Maia and Rafael Dos Anjos propelling him to a much coveted title shot.
The current 170lb belt holder, Woodley was quick to shut down any claims of a fight between himself and Usman.
Colby Covington won the interim belt last year and still remains in contention for a title tilt against Woodley but injuries have sidelined the polarising welterweight.
Usman appears ready to go but Woodley does not appear to have any sort of bout agreement signed at the moment.
Though the water may be muddied with back and forth Twitter exchanges, what is clear is that the UFC badly need a main event sorted sooner rather than later.
