Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone may not yet have a championship belt around his waist but the bonus King has been racking up the cheques at UFC Brooklyn.
After a fantastic night of fights that had everything, the UFC handed out their bonuses as is customary once the event has finished and on a night where he was a betting underdog, Donald Cerrone found himself with two bonus cheques after he disposed of Alexander Hernandez in true “Cowboy” fashion.
Cerrone is now the leader in bonus wins under the UFC banner and earned both the Performance of the Night and Fight of the Night honours worth $50,000 each thus taking his bank up to $100,000. Not a bad way to round off your Saturday night.
Alexander Hernandez also picked up $50,000 for his efforts in the fight but it is Cerrone who will no doubt be smiling this morning after making the cut to lightweight for the first time since 2015.
Also receiving a bonus was flyweight champion Henry Cejudo who finished TJ Dillashaw in 32 seconds to retain his 125lbs belt. He picked up $50,000 for another Performance of the Night bonus.
