Two Irish prospects in James Sheehan and Ian Garry found themselves opposite one another on Saturday night at Cage Warriors 101 in Liverpool, England.
It was a fight that promised so much and it certainly delivered as SBG Swords’ Ian Garry made his pro debut on Saturday night with an impressive display as he was named victorious via unanimous decision (30-25, 30-25, 30-27)
James Sheehan of Team Ryano ended up on the losing side this time but was far from out of an ever competitive fight between the two Dubliners.
Many Irish fans were disappointed that the pair were matched up so early in their careers but given the hype behind both fighters, it is likely that the duo will eventually meet again somewhere down the line.
CEO of Cage Warriors shortly confirmed after the fight that both men would be given contracts for the European promotion which can only be positive news for both men and Irish MMA as a whole.
