UFC St. Petersburg Results – Overeem gets win in wild fight

The evening’s main event saw Alistair Overeem earn a victory in a wild back and forth round of fighting.

Striker vs Grappler affairs are usually interesting affairs and what we got on Saturday night was certainly all that and more.

Owner of the most creative submission skills in the heavyweight division, if not the UFC roster, Alexei Oleinik pulled Overeem into his guard right off the bat and was searching for that infamous Ezekiel Choke of his.

The submission wasn’t forthcoming and when both men reset and stood back up, it was Oleinik who was throwing wild haymakers over the top and caught Overeem on several occasions and peppered his body with punches.

Overeem seemed unfazed by Oleinik’s attack and managed to land a huge knee that sent the Russian to the mat and flattened him to secure the victory with extra ground and pound.

Catch the main event finish below and highlights of all the night’s finishes in the results section.
