The Eir Sport package will no longer have BT Sport from August 1st.
If you were planning on picking up Eir Sport for the upcoming Premier League season and slew of UFC events coming up, you might want to think again as Sky Ireland will be the exclusive distributor of BT Sport from next month onwards.
Sky Sports Extra was officially announced today with BT Sport 1/2/3/ESPN and Premier Sports 1 and 2 joining the ranks of Sky’s sport package.
The UFC has been the home of BT Sport for many years now but will be distributed via Sky subscription for the forseeable future.
BT Sport controversially announced a PPV package for UFC 239 – the first of its kind for UK and Irish viewers – and it is yet unclear if any future PPV events will be held on BT or Sky Box Office.
No price point has been officially announced for Sky Sports Extra as of yet but a regular subscription for Sky (including your mandatory 12 month package and extra sports package) costs €64. That’s €34 more expensive than the current Eir Sport package.
Of course, the above price is pure speculation but it’s likely that it won’t be too far off the mark.
